I try every year to get out to Waterton Lakes National Park early in the spring. Early enough to buy my yearly park pass and take a deep breath of the mountain air. Today was a gorgeous day. A little cool. Definitely snowy and wet, but worth it.
Interesting what you find when you turn around. I wonder how many years this has been there? (For legal reasons I will state this “AK” tag is by no means related to or property of myself or the Aaron Keeling Creative.)
Such beautiful sounds came from this gentleman as he played on the street in Gastown, Vancouver, BC. His music created such a wonderful contrast as compared to the noise of traffic and all the tourists. It was worth pausing, just to listen. I thanked him as he bowed.
I recently spent a few days in the downtown Vancouver area and attended Canadian Imaging 2013 (hosted by PPOC). There was a lot to see and do, some amazing places to eat, and of course plenty of photo opportunities! Moose Peterson held a workshop on my first day. It was a photo walk of the Downtown and Gastown areas. What a great time! Too many pics to show you, but I thought I should post a few for you too […]
“Seriously? Ha ha… AWESOME!” Those were the first words from my mouth as I heard my name and saw my image on the screen at the PPOC Alberta 2013 Image Salon Awards Dinner! I had just been awarded the Best In Class for an image in the Experimental / Unclassified category. I was in awe! I will be honest, I never intended for this image to actually go anywhere. I chose the category because it was unique and interesting. I […]
Well, who’d a thunk I’d be venturing into a winter blast in a discouraged hope of taking an amazing image? Blinding snow, treacherous roads, slippery slopes, and a lone black bear watching me as I wiz by him on the side of the road. He was probably thinking “crazy ars tourist”, and the whole time I’m thinking “hey look a bear”! lol Sorry everyone, there’s no photo of him. I was too busy trying to stay on the road! This is […]
This blogpost is a departure from my norm. For those who know me, you know I’m usually a very private person. This time around I thought I should share a little bit more than the usual. So for those of you who read this, this is about someone who was very dear to my heart, and how I remember her. – I have wonderful memories of my Grandma who lived in Vulcan, Alberta. Many summers were spent in her place […]
Okay, I have got to say that the other day was a pretty amazing day! I set out with a few friends to try and conquer the Carthew-Alderson hike in Waterton Lakes National Park. Upon entering the park, I was a bit hesitant to even think of hiking anywhere. The townsite was socked in with dark heavy clouds, and there was a constant mist in the air, which led me to believe we were going to be wearing our raincoats […]
What is your favorite place to visit to get away from daily life? What place takes all your stresses away and lets you forget about all the things that weigh you down during the work week? Where would you call home if you could choose a place like the place I visited this past weekend? For those of you who don’t know, I live in Southern Alberta, Canada. Nearby is a National Park named Waterton Lakes. It is, in my […]
